About Jake
I graduated from St. Anne's College, University of Oxford where I read Experimental Psychology & Philosophy. Presently, I study a masters in Computational Neuroscience at University College London. I study computational models of cognitive processes, which both utilise and inform machine learning approaches. Prior to this, I worked as a new technologies reporter at GlobalData, City of London. I have been tutoring 11+, 13+, GCSE, and school entrance exams for three years, both online and in-person, primarily with Hilltop Academy, Oxford. I have seen many of my students go on to win places at Eton, Westminster, Cheltenham Ladies', Wycombe Abbey, Harrow, Radley and other top schools. At GCSE, I have helped students achieve 9s in Computer Science, Maths and Biology. I also have experience supporting students with successful applications to Cambridge and Yale.

Lessons are completely flexible to the student's individual level and needs. For beginners to programming, we follow a series of exercises designed to gain familiarity and experience with the foundations of programming. For more experienced students we can cover content or work towards larger programming projects. Theory lessons follow the GCSE syllabus, and are interactive with frequent questions to consolidate the student's understanding. For students studying both theory and programming, we cover how the two areas are interlinked and complete exercises to explore these links. Programming and algorithmic reasoning are hugely transferable skills, so lessons aim to help students gain the confidence to use these skills in other subjects and activities. I am always happy to discuss the many exciting advancements in modern and future technology.
