About Ben

I’m Ben, a Cambridge CELTA and Trinity CertTESOL qualified English teacher, and I’ve lived in Falmouth since 2004.

I first taught English in Turin and Barcelona, working with professionals at companies like FIAT, Ferrero, Alfa Romeo, Sony and Diageo. I then spent 21 years in estate agency here in Falmouth – meeting, advising and negotiating with people from every walk of life. I’m now returning to teaching, and I bring that real-world experience into every lesson.

I’ve also learnt some Italian, Spanish and French myself, so I know how it feels to be on the other side: understanding more than you can say, worrying about mistakes, and wanting to sound natural rather than “textbook”. My lessons are relaxed, encouraging and focused on helping you speak with confidence.

About the lesson

Every lesson is built around you: your level, your goals and the situations where you actually use English.

What we work on:

• Conversation – speaking freely and naturally about everyday life, work and your interests
• Pronunciation – being understood easily, with natural stress and intonation
• Accuracy – the grammar and vocabulary that matter most for you, explained clearly
• Confidence – handling real situations, from phone calls and appointments to meetings and small talk
• Natural English – the everyday phrases and expressions native speakers really use

Everyday or work English. Lessons can focus on daily life in the UK, on English for your job (emails, meetings, presentations, talking to clients), or on a mix of both.

How it works: we start with a free 45-minute first lesson, where we chat, I get a sense of your level and we agree what you’d like to achieve. After that, each lesson mixes conversation with focused practice, and I give you clear feedback and a few useful phrases to take away.

When and where: evenings and weekends, in person around Falmouth and Penryn, or online via Zoom. One-to-one or in a small group of up to three people.

All levels welcome, from beginners to advanced.
