About Amelia
Outside tutoring, I’ve worked in roles where communication and clarity are everything — including paralegal work, governance work as a Clerk to the Governors, and representing postgraduate students as a formal liaison within a university setting. I’m used to explaining complex things clearly, handling sensitive conversations with care, and keeping everything organised and professional. And yes — I also do stand-up comedy, which means if a student is bored, I don’t panic. I adapt. If something isn’t clicking, I’ll switch the approach instantly rather than stubbornly repeating the same explanation louder (we’ve all had a teacher like that).

I’m a tutor because I genuinely love it. I’ve been tutoring since 2016 (one-to-one and small groups), and I’m big on making learning feel less like a punishment and more like, “Oh… I can do this.” I’m patient, upbeat, and a bit of a professional translator of “confusing school wording” into plain English. If a student is anxious, overwhelmed, or convinced they’re “bad” at a subject, I’m the person who will gently prove them wrong — step by step, without judgement, and with a few laughs along the way. Progress matters, but confidence is usually the thing that unlocks it.
My academic background is solidly rooted in law and people: I completed Law with Criminology (2:1), followed by an LLM/LPC (Merit), and I’m currently working on a Master’s in Psychology (predicted Distinction). That mix is a big part of how I tutor: I’m structured and organised (law does that to you), but I’m also really focused on how students learn, what motivates them, and what helps information stick — especially under pressure.
