About Fabian
Hello! I'm a native Spanish speaker from Bogotá, Colombia, currently living in Queens, New York.
With an academic background that combines Culinary Arts, Anthropology, and a Master’s degree in Public Policy, I offer a unique and immersive approach to language learning. I’ve worked as an educator and consultant on topics such as nutrition, public health, and rural development, and I’m passionate about connecting people through culture, food, and education.
I started teaching at the age of 18, leading workshops, working as a museum guide, and offering cultural tours. I'm from Bogotá, and I speak a clear, neutral, and easy-to-understand Spanish. I’ve taught Spanish to adults and seniors, and I have over 10 years of experience as a university professor at both undergraduate and graduate levels. I’m also a researcher with more than 10 publications in scientific journals and book chapters, and I’ve been an invited speaker at over 20 academic events across Latin America and Spain.

In my classes, you won't just learn Spanish — you'll live it!
I love teaching in a creative, friendly, and personalized way. From our very first session, I do a quick assessment to understand your strengths, interests, and goals (travel? work? maybe even love?). From there, we build a personalized roadmap to help you grow step by step.
My methodology combines active learning, real conversation, culture, music, art, and digital tools (apps, websites, videos). I don’t focus on rigid rules or constant corrections — I prefer to create a relaxed environment where you can practice without fear and truly enjoy the process.
A typical class with me includes a quick review, hands-on activities (not just grammar!), comprehension exercises, and lots of interaction. I also like to share extra materials if you want to keep practicing between lessons.
What sets me apart as a tutor is my mix of academic experience and human warmth. I’ve been a university professor for over 10 years, taught in Colombia, and have been invited to teach in my field in Mexico and Brazil. My approach is highly cultural — I can teach you everything from the Spanish spoken in everyday life, to the language used in travel, academia, or business.
My classes are designed especially for adults, seniors, or university students — from curious beginners to advanced learners who want to feel more confident. Learning with me means having a friendly guide by your side, with patience, motivation, and flexibility.

If you’d like to schedule an in-person lesson at your home or office, please note there is an additional fee of USD $10 only when booking a single one-hour session. This helps cover travel time and transportation costs.
