Full-time English and University Applications tutor, with a year's A-Level teaching experience in a Sixth Form and a First-Class Honours BA from Durham University.

Josephine is driven, hard-working and extremely competent. We were both in the sixth form pod bubble at Harris Academy Tottenham this past academic year. I am a science teacher, including Chemistry A Level.

She demonstrated her ability to teach, counsel and advise students academically with English Literature in both Year 12 and 13. Her responsibilities included setting and marking homework, guiding study sessions, making coursework and teaching study skills. Josephine expertise and ability was evident when she was included in the standardisation and moderation of this year’s A Level assessments with the English department.

Josephine also supported the all the Year 13 students with the editing and submission of their UCAS profiles. She reviewed several drafts in some instances and demonstrated patience, diligence and care with every pupil beyond the scope of what could be reasonably expected.

Josephine frequently used her initiative to decipher and tackle difficult tasks. She was tenacious in her determination to learn and excel in the new administrative tools and programs she encountered at Harris Academy Tottenham.

Josephine’s enthusiasm and enjoyment of her role as a form tutor was evident every day. She was always at her most energised when she was in her form class or interacting with her form students. She was proactive in engaging with the parents of her tutees that needed extra support and was diligent with keeping those channels of communication on pupil progress open between them, class teachers, pupils and the sixth form leadership team.

Josephine was a cheerful and positive member of the sixth form pod. She was well liked and respected by everyone. She tackled the challenges of the lockdown and the academy’s ransomware attack practically and professionally using her instinct and creativity to determine how to deliver the best teaching and support to the students.

I have worked with Josephine, who was an academic tutor within my Sixth Form, for the past 12 months. Her knowledge of KS3, KS4 and KS5 English literature and language content is outstanding and she has provided excellent bespoke tuition for students varying in ability levels. Josephine is a highly approachable tutor who can work alongside you / your child to bridge any gaps in their English curriculum knowledge. Students she has worked alongside have made excellent progress academically and have also improved their confidence levels in this subject.

Josephine is not just a gifted tutor with a first class degree in English from Durham University, just as importantly she is a consummate professional who takes her work extremely seriously. Yet on a personal level she is warm, kind and caring. It is to me inconceivable that anyone offering her tutoring work would ever be less than delighted to hire her.
