About Miranda
I began my career in Hong Kong, teaching English at the British Council. I then worked in Barcelona at International House for a number of years, teaching children and adults, from beginners to Cambridge Proficiency level. For 23 years, I worked at the University of Bath, where my last role was as Head of Academic Skills. I now work freelance, teaching effective communication skills to business people in Europe, ESOL to recent immigrants to the UK, and academic writing skills to international students who are either aiming to get into British universities or who are already studying at a British university.

I adapt my methods to meet the needs of my students. For English, I ensure a good balance of fluency and accuracy work. For academic writing, I analyse my students' work to know exactly what areas they need to develop. Please note that as I need to spend more time out of class for academic writing sessions, I need to charge more these lessons.

Details
For English classes, my rate is £40 for a 1 hour class, which also covers preparation of tailor-made sessions, and any follow-up needed.
For academic writing classes, the £50 hourly rate covers contact time with the student, whether that is online, in person, or by email, plus time I spend analysing and correcting your writing.
