About Addie
I am 26 years old and a second-year student at Grand Canyon University. I am seeking a Bachelor of Science in mathematics for secondary education with preparation for certification and licensure in the state of Tennessee. I started tutoring students professionally as a high school student and have experience with middle grade math, Algebra I & II, Geometry, and Precalculus. I also worked part-time at the Kumon Math and Reading Center for two years.
I am someone who enjoys complex math problems and loves to break them down in a way that is more manageable and less overwhelming for the student. I will never shame or talk down to your student for not knowing how to solve a problem. I will review concepts with them, work out example problems for guidance, and oversee their independent practice. Instead of telling my students the answer or having them copy my work, I explain the process bit by bit and provide prompting that guides them in completing the work themselves.
I enjoy building connections with my clients and watching their confidence grow as their grades improve. I love providing my students with encouragement and support for their achievements and progress. One of my favorite things to receive as a tutor is a message from an excited student about a good grade!

Hello! My name is Addie Lisbona, and I am a second year student at GCU studying mathematics for secondary education. I have experience tutoring in middle grade math, Algebra I & II, Geometry, and Precalculus.
I work alongside your student to assist in completing assignments and prepare for class assessments. I focus on helping my students understand the concepts (not just copy and paste steps) and build their confidence in their own mathematical abilities. I especially enjoy helping students who feel stuck or frustrated with math. I love offering multiple perspectives until they have their "light bulb moment" when it starts to click!
Many students face difficulties with whole class instruction in school and instead require one-on-one assistance from someone who can directly address their questions and guide them through the learning process. I create a casual, yet productive environment to make a difficult subject a little less intimidating.
