About Ian

Ever since I was a kid, I was always fascinated by computers. By the ripe age of 10 years old I was already familiarizing myself with Java, and C# and C++ to learn how to program games within Unreal Engine and Unity. By the time I entered high school, I released my first app in a joint project with other students, and in college it's remained my focus. I began my higher education at Penn State studying Cyber Security and getting a handful of certifications in the realm of IT, and quickly became proficient at Python. I am now at the University of Utah in their renowned Entertainment Arts & Engineering program learning the ins and outs of Game Design. I plan on specializing in 3D Modeling.

Game design can be broken down into a few major components:

First there is Level Design, which is the creative process of establishing the concept, goal, and obstacles within the game. This includes figuring out what kind of genre you want the game to be, the UI, and what kind of world you want to build.

Secondly there is Visual Design, which is the art of creating three-dimensional objects and environments that populate the game world. It involves designing and shaping digital models using specialized software, considering factors such as geometry, textures, lighting, and animation.

Then there's Game Mechanics. Game Mechanics is focused rules and interactions within the game. Should the game have characteristics of reality? If so, simulate earth's gravity or the real physics behind swinging a sword, or is the game intentionally unrealistic?

What I am offering is an intensive look into these subjects, where I teach you how to maneuver yourself within these different softwares, develop the skills needed to create compelling and immersive games, and learn how to create what already exists within your head.
