About Varsha
Hi! I’m Varsha, and my approach to tutoring is built on the belief that everyone can succeed with the right support. My background includes a mix of roles, from serving as a Lecturer at Kaplan International College to working as an Educational Observer at Birmingham Newman University. During my time at Uxbridge College, I had the privilege of guiding GCSE and A-Level students through their exams and BTEC qualifications. I am currently a PhD offer holder at SOAS and am nearly finished with my professional Teaching Diploma, which keeps me focused on the best ways to help people learn. Instead of just lecturing, I use a scaffolding method to build your knowledge bit by bit and flipped learning to make sure you are actively involved in every session. I have even been lucky enough to win a Best Dissertation award and present my research at Columbia University, but my favourite part of the job is still that moment when a student finally feels confident in a subject they used to find difficult. Whether you are tackling Business, Social Sciences, or a long dissertation, I’m here to provide honest, patient, and down-to-earth support to help you get the grades you need.

My Techniques and Teaching Methodology
I use a method called scaffolding, which means I build a bridge from what you already know to the new things you need to learn. I also practise flipped learning, where I encourage you to lead the discussion so you stay active and interested instead of just listening to a lecture. My goal is to act as a coach who helps you develop the independence and critical thinking skills you need for your future career.
Typical Length of a Lesson
My lessons usually last between 60 and 90 minutes. This gives us enough time to review what we did last time, cover new topics, and practise together without feeling rushed.
My Qualifications and Experience
I have worked as a Lecturer at Kaplan International College and a Learning Support Assistant at Uxbridge College, where I helped students reach their goals in Business and Social Sciences. I currently work as an Educational Observer for Birmingham Newman University, where I check that teaching standards stay high. I hold an MA from SOAS with a Best Dissertation award, and I am nearly finished with my professional Level 5 Diploma in Teaching.
Who the Lessons Are For
I teach students from secondary school age through to university level. I have guided GCSE and A-Level students at Uxbridge College and helped university students with their dissertations and research projects. I also have a lot of experience supporting students with special educational needs (SEND) and those who speak English as a second language.
