About Jessica
With 10 years’ experience teaching English in secondary schools, I am passionate about helping young people not only improve their English, but also develop the confidence and self-belief to succeed.
I understand that every student is different, and that sometimes a lack of confidence can be just as much of a barrier as finding the work difficult. My approach is patient, compassionate and encouraging, creating a safe space where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and celebrating their progress.
I believe that every young person deserves the opportunity to learn in a way that works for them. Whether a student needs extra support, a confidence boost or a little more challenge, I tailor my teaching to their individual needs and help them recognise what they are capable of achieving.

I use a supportive, patient and personalised approach, adapting lessons to suit each student's individual needs and learning style. I use clear explanations, questioning, guided practice and exam-style activities to develop English skills and confidence. I have particular experience supporting students with SEN and helping learners overcome anxiety or a lack of confidence.
Lessons are usually 50-60 minutes, with the structure adapted to suit the student's age, ability and concentration. I focus on creating a positive learning environment where students feel comfortable making mistakes, building confidence and developing their independence.
I tutor KS3 and KS4 students (ages 11–16), supporting students with GCSE English Language and Literature, reading, writing, comprehension, exam preparation and general confidence in English.
