About Shane
Do you want to finally understand Shakespeare? Without having to force yourself to learn stupid quotes? Do you find it difficult, as deep down inside you know you really don't care about the book? And, lastly, do you find English Literature boring? If the answer to any of these was a big, fat "YEEES!!", then I'm the tutor for you! My whole aim is to enable you to ENJOY English Literature. Yes. It is possible to ENJOY English Literature. Part of the reason you find it so damn boring is because you don't understand the text, or you believe it is not relevant to you. My method of teaching is centred around the context of the texts so students can relate to the texts, and finally understand them, unlocking their hidden potential. Students will finally be able to say. "Yes! I understand what's going on!" Instead of "What even is this BOOK!?" The reason behind this is simple: Students fall short of the top grades in English Literature because they are simply taught to pick random quotes, and analyse their language, without thinking about context. By understanding the purpose of why the book was actually written, students are able to reach the top marks, as they are able to relate to that purpose in regards to today's world. For most, GCSE English can be boring. My method of teaching allows the student to analyse the texts in accordance with their personal perception, making it both relevant and entertaining to them, as their true intellect and insight is unlocked. This is because the sheer difference between a B and an A* Student is the depth of their understanding of the CONTEXT of the texts they are studying, which many students lack in, as many think they are boring and not relevant to today's world. I aim to open a new world to them through Literature, and soon enough they will realise that the texts they study are just as relevant in today's society as they were when they were published. -Lessons range from 1-2 hours. -I teach Poetry, Shakespeare, Utopian Literature and 19th Century Novels. -Achieved Grade 8 in English Literature for GCSE. (I studied Macbeth, Animal Farm and A Christmas Carol for GCSE). (U
