About Charles
Hi! My name is Charlie Appleyard, and I’m a former student at Barnard Castle School. I’ve always had a deep love for Mathematics, which led me to take part in a variety of competitions and academic challenges throughout school. What I enjoy just as much as solving problems is helping others do the same. I find real joy in teaching — whether it’s supporting classmates, explaining tricky topics, or helping my tutees build confidence and understanding. I believe anyone can learn anything with the right support, and I’m committed to finding the teaching approach that works best for each student.

I listen, and I teach. I truly believe that anyone can learn anything with the right support and focus. If you’re willing to engage, I’ll do everything I can to help you understand any topic or solve any problem. And if something doesn’t click straight away, that’s on me — not you. I’ll reflect, adapt, and find a better way to explain it. Everyone can learn. My job is to help make it make sense. My typical length of a lesson is 1 hour, though this is flexible. I have enjoyed tutoring for the past 2 years of my sixth form experience at Barnard Castle School and I hold the following qualifications: A* - A Level Mathematics A** - GCSE Mathematics A** - GCSE Further Mathematics I offer Maths tutoring for A-Level, GCSE, and primary and secondary school students of all ages.

My Rate for Tutoring in Person: £30/hour My Rate for Tutoring Online: £28/hour On the Rates section above the cost for travel is fixed at £10. However in reality this value will be dependent on how far I would need to travel to tutor in person, the website hasn't given me an option to make it flexible so I have decided to state it here.
