About Thomas
My number one ambition is to become a good teacher that students always have something to learn from. I am a passionate Creative Media student at the University of Plymouth and while my degree has little to do with mathematics, before starting my current course, I was studying cybersecurity and computer systems engineering. The years I spent studying these disciplines have greatly developed my understanding of mathematics, which provided me with a meaningful set of skills and knowledge. Together with the degree I am undertaking, I think my current abilities and the skill that is required to make connections between subjects would make me a better teacher than most others.

The typical lesson lasts an hour, with a small starter for warm-ups on topics that are relevant to the content we are going to cover. My experience in learning mathematics and also tutoring GCSE computer science students helps me break down and explain mathematics concepts to the most minute detail. My lessons are for all age-groups trying to grow their understanding of GCSE mathematics concepts, whether it is for a pass or the extra touches needed for a grade 9. My approach involves creating a foundation of knowledge, or consolidating it, effectively using the strengths of a student's thinking in order to provide them with useful problem-solving skills.
