About Oliver
Hi, I'm Oliver, a passionate and dedicated tutor specialising in GCSE Maths. I have a strong background in education, with extensive experience in both private tutoring and working with SEN students through a professional student-based organisation. This experience has given me a unique understanding of how to tailor lessons to meet individual needs, ensuring that every student feels supported and motivated. I graduated with First Class Honours in Menswear from Central Saint Martins, and my work in fashion design has helped me develop problem-solving skills and a creative approach to teaching. I bring this creativity into my tutoring sessions, making maths more engaging and accessible for all students. Through my work with a SEN-focused organisation, I've had the opportunity to support students with diverse learning needs, including ADHD, Autism, Dyslexia and other neurodivergent conditions. I understand how important it is to create a learning environment where students feel comfortable, confident, and capable of asking questions and overcoming challenges. I hold an up-to-date DBS check and have completed a Safeguarding in Education Certificate, ensuring that I adhere to the highest standards of safety and professionalism in my tutoring practice. My approach to tutoring is built on patience, clear explanations, and personalised learning. I take the time to understand each student’s strengths and areas for improvement, adjusting my lessons to fit their learning style. Teaching Style & Methodology I believe that maths should be clear, engaging, and confidence-boosting, especially for students who may feel overwhelmed by the subject. My lessons are interactive and tailored to each student's learning style—whether that means breaking down tricky concepts into simple steps, using real-world examples, or incorporating visual aids and problem-solving strategies. For SEN students or those with ADHD, I use structured yet flexible sessions, incorporating techniques like multisensory learning, gamified problem-solving, and real-life applications to keep engagement high. Lesson Length & Structure Each lesson is typically 60 minutes but can be adjusted based on the student's needs and attention span. I balance: Concept explanations with step-by-step breakdowns Guided practice to reinforce understanding Problem-solving strategies for exams Confidence-building exercises to reduce maths anxiety My Qualifications & Experience Experienced tutor with a strong background in maths education SEN specialist, with experience working with students who have ADHD and learning differences Professional teaching experience in both private tutoring and group settings Patient, approachable, and adaptable – I adjust my methods to match each student’s pace Who Are These Lessons For?
