About Naïra
Hi! I am a master student doing research and majoring in English, specializing in translation and linguistics, and I am writing thesis in phonology (the study of accents in English). I did my first year of master's online as I was teaching in a high school in England, in Hertfordshire. And I just came back from a gap year I spent in the United States, where I taught at UCI- University of California, Irvine.

My years spent teaching abroad allowed me to acquire a different pedagogy from the classical pedagogy applied in France. I try to adapt as well as possible to my students. I would say that the major trait of my teaching method is interactivity. To learn a living language, you have to learn the rules of that language, but above all you have to PRACTICE it. So in my course, know that I will expect you to participate (you will learn better and faster as well). In English-speaking pedagogy, we speak of "scaffolding" (literally: scaffolding). We try not to put the student in a situation of failure. We build with it the basics (grammar, vocabulary etc ...) and we practice to use little by little the new concepts seen, then to use them in broader contexts (conversation for example). So "scaffolding" allows the learner to achieve a certain autonomy, in writing or orally, without the desired result seeming impossible to achieve, and without this discouraging the student.
