About James
I have been playing the piano since the age of three, and I am keen to help others get the same joy from it as I do. I play a wide variety of repertoire, but I particularly enjoy the romantic composers, especially Mendelssohn and Schubert. I also play the organ, as well as rowing.

I know how important the basics of technique and theory are to the quality of piano-playing, even from the very beginning, so time is dedicated to these exercises. This technique must then be put to use through the learning and playing of a wide variety of repertoire, which I will introduce to the student, while allowing them a degree of choice. Playing the piano should, of course, also be fun, so this element is not neglected. Lessons are usually 30 minutes until grade 5 or the age of 13-15, and one hour for those above this level.
