I base my lessons completely around the students - if you are eager to do exams, I have years of experience studying for exams. However, if the student decides they'd prefer to do something more relaxed, I am eager to teach them how to play their favourite songs!

  • When did you first develop a passion for music and your favourite instrument?

I first developed a passion for music over ten years ago when I picked up the guitar. From that moment, I was hooked. I have loved being able to learn new songs and express myself through music, and I really enjoy watching myself improve over time.
  • Is there a particular type of music or artist that you listen to on a loop without it driving you crazy?

Definitely! I could listen to acoustic fingerstyle guitar all day. Artists like Tommy Emmanuel and Hozier bring such creativity and technical mastery to the instrument that every listen feels fresh.
  • Explain to us the most difficult or riveting course you could personally give to a student of music.

One of the most challenging yet rewarding lessons I could give is on advanced fingerpicking techniques and percussive guitar playing. Learning how to integrate melody, bass, and rhythm all at once can be tricky, but when it clicks, it completely transforms how a student approaches the guitar.
  • What do you think is the most complicated instrument to master and why?

Every instrument has its challenges, but I'd say the violin is one of the hardest. Unlike the guitar, there are no frets, so every note needs precise finger placement. Plus, bowing technique is an art in itself!
  • What are your keys to success?

Patience, consistency, and enjoyment. Whether preparing for an exam or just playing for fun, progress comes from steady practice and a love for what you're doing. I also believe in adapting lessons to fit the student's goals; everyone learns differently, and success comes from finding a method that works best for each person.
  • Name three musicians you dream of meeting in your favourite bar in the early hours of the morning. Explain why.

Tommy Emmanuel - his ability to make one guitar sound like an entire band is incredible!
Hozier - his songwriting is poetic and powerful, blending folk, blues, and soul in a way that feels timeless. I'd love to hear about his creative process and influences.
Eva Cassidy - her unique tunings and songwriting style would make for a fascinating conversation.
  • Provide a valuable anecdote related to music or your days at music school.

When I was preparing for my Grade 8 exam, I remember feeling overwhelmed by some of the technical pieces. I decided to record my playing every day to track my progress. By the end of just one week, I was amazed by how much I could improve just by being consistent in such a small space of time.
  • What are the little touches that make you a Superprof in music?

I tailor every lesson to the student. Whether someone wants to ace their exams or just strum along to their favorite songs, I make sure they get exactly what they are looking for.
