About Will

I am Will, and have a load of different experience from working all over the world!

I am from Ireland, near Belfast where I grew up and went to school. English was always my favorite subject and I spent many nights reading books under the covers when I should have been sleeping. My studies took me to Dublin, then to England as I developed as a person and a teacher. Then, after stints in England and France, I have now moved to New Zealand.

I have worked in all kinds of fields over the years and have all kinds of experience. I often work in the film industry, writing scripts and helping record dialogue. I have worked as a student support worker, looking after students that needed guidance at De Montfort University, Leicester. And I have even worked as a pizza chef!

All of these experiences have made me a more rounded and confident person, and have given me many interesting stories. I am used to meeting people from all walks of life and I am more than capable of assisting anyone to improve their English.

About the lesson

I am a friendly and engaging teacher who is available to help anyone, young or old, to improve their English. Whether it is your second language or you are struggling with your studies, I will be able to identify areas of improvement and address them in personalised lessons.

I have an MA in Creative Writing from Queens University, Belfast, and a BA in English from the University of Leicester, England. During my years studying I have witnessed many educational styles and I find that the tutors that stuck with me most are the ones that ask the better questions! What did the author really mean by this? Why would this sentence work better in a different format? Why does this book make you feel this way?

I believe that these questions are what engages students and helps unlock more unused parts of their brains as they consider their answers. The lessons would be one hour long and would combine reading, writing and spoken English depending on the client. Vocabulary, spelling and grammar are all things that can be covered as required.
