About Emily
I recently graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor's in Biodiversity and Conservation. Throughout my experience I took many life science courses, such as genetics, anatomy, cell biology, plant and animal biology, biochemistry, botany, and more. I worked in various research positions and field experience opportunities to gain more knowledge in these fields. Additionally, I am currently working towards a Master's degree in Education. This has heavily influenced my teaching abilities by providing opportunities to learn about and practice different teaching strategies. I am passionate about biology, but also committed to helping students learn with a personal approach to their understanding and abilities, and a patient growth mindset.

I approach tutoring with a personalized lesson tailored to the student. This takes into consideration the learning style, specific struggles, level, etc., of the individual being taught. A typical lesson begins with an engaging video or demonstration of the topic to interest the student, and progresses through a discussion of the topics, guided practice, independent practice, and then review and questions. I try to incorporate different platforms, technology, and methods of learning (whiteboard, video, graphic organizers, etc.) into the lesson for engagement. These lessons would be tailored to middle school, high school, or undergraduate college students that need one-on-one support and guidance through concepts within the biology, botany, anatomy, and general life science fields.
