About Akogu
I'm Akogu Moses Idris, a passionate artist and experienced art educator with over 10 years of teaching in schools and private settings. I studied Fine and Applied Arts and specialize in drawing, painting, and visual storytelling. I teach because I believe art is a powerful tool for expression, healing, and discovery. My goal is to help learners of all ages unlock their creativity, build solid skills, and find their unique voice through art.

As a passionate and experienced art educator, my approach to teaching is both student-centered and hands-on. I believe every student is unique, so I tailor each lesson to suit their individual learning pace, interests, and strengths. I aim to not just teach techniques but also to help students discover their own creative voice. I combine demonstration, guided practice, visual references, and open discussion in each class. I place strong emphasis on observation storytelling through art and emotional expression, encouraging students to see beyond what they draw or paint. LESSON STRUCTURE AND DURATION: Each lesson typically lasts between 60 to 90 minutes, depending on the student's age and focus level. Lessons are broken into three parts: 1. Warm up/Observation 2. Main project or skill focus e.g. drawing, color theory 3. Feedback, reflection, and art appreciation discussion. I offer both short-term themed classes and longer-term mentorship for those who wish to grow consistently over time. I hold a National Certificate in Education (NCE) in Fine and Applied Arts and have over 10 years of experience teaching Arts in schools and private settings. I've also worked as an Education and Research Officer at Thought Pyramid Arts Centre (2017) and currently run independent art programs including an upcoming art academy. My strengths lie in drawing, painting, mixed media, art appreciation, and helping learners make personal connections through their work. WHO DO I TEACH? . Children (ages 6 and above) . Teenagers . Adults with a passion for Art whether you are learning for fun, preparing for exams, or building a portfolio, I adapt my methods to meet your goals.
