About Cara Ann
I am a graduate student in painting at the University of Iowa. I have studied English, Art and Teaching English as a Second Language. I will graduate with my Master of Fine Arts in May of 2026. I have studied art for over 15 years and have been teaching drawing since 2023. In 2015, I spent three years in Europe as an ESL teacher and completely loved the experience. I have always wanted to be a teacher and this showed me that it was truly what I was meant to do. I love seeing the confidence and sense of achievement my students have when they are able to learn, take steps and do something they could not before. My greatest strength is inspiring others to be their best selves, in learning and life. I am very excited to meet you, learn about what you hope to do and begin our time and lessons together!

I love to teach in a way that focuses on my students strengths first, challenging them with small steps that lead to greater achievements.
The most important part of my job is to help you love to learn so that it does not feel like it is something you must do, but something you love to do.
I will first ask you a series of questions to find out how I can support you best, then plan individual lessons that are creative, fun and show steady progress that you can see and be confident in.
I am best with beginning to intermediate art students, intermediate reading, composition students and ESL speakers that want to strengthen dialogue and vocabulary.
