About Phil
I am a friendly and enthusiastic teacher who is currently working as a Head of English for a large academy chain.
I am also a graduate from Cambridge University (Downing College), and have been teaching English in Norfolk and Suffolk for three years. I entered teaching through the Teach First Leadership Development Programme and received a PGCE from Canterbury Christ Church University.
What I offer:
Excellent resources - I provide tutees with my own notes, writing frames, and sample essays. These resources teach tutees an easy, structured way of writing strong essays that will win high marks in the exam.

My approach:
I take a flexible, relational and dedicated approach to tutoring. Let me explain…
1. Flexibility
In my initial session I seek to understand what areas of the tutee’s course they require support in. I then seek to tailor the tutoring sessions to meet these needs. I recognise that people can request tutors for a variety of reasons. It may be for support in writing coursework, some last-minute advice before an exam, or a long-term commitment throughout the course of studying a curriculum. I am happy to provide help for my tutees in all of these situations.
2. Relational
I also believe in a highly relational style of tutoring. This form of teaching works most successfully when focused around discussion. As well as explaining the material to my tutees, I also seek to listen carefully to their thoughts and ideas. In addition, I also take a style of teaching that is friendly, and uncritical, offering plenty of encouragement to my tutees!
3. Dedicated
I am dedicated to providing a positive and helpful learning experience for my tutees. I am punctual and prepare material thoroughly for each session. In addition, I am also committed to meeting the changing needs of my tutees and will do my utmost to secure success in their study.
I have always had a great passion for literary subjects especially History, English and Religious Studies. It would be a great pleasure for me to help people in their study of these areas, regardless of their age or ability.
