About Kiersten
Hello! My name is Kiersten, and I am passionate about helping children build confidence and become successful learners. I have over 10 years of experience working with children, including several years supporting Pre-K and Kindergarten students with early literacy skills.
I have two bachelor’s degrees, one in Human Services and one in Science of Teaching. My experience in the classroom has helped me understand how children learn best through patience, encouragement, hands-on activities, and lessons that are engaging and meaningful.
I specialize in helping young learners strengthen their reading, phonics, spelling, vocabulary, and early writing skills. My goal is to create a positive learning environment where students feel comfortable, supported, and excited to learn.

I believe every student learns best when lessons are engaging, encouraging, and personalized to their individual needs. My approach as a tutor is to create a supportive learning environment where students feel confident to ask questions, make mistakes, and grow. I focus on building strong reading and spelling foundations through phonics, vocabulary development, comprehension skills, and writing practice.

I use student-centered instruction by adjusting lessons based on each learner’s strengths, challenges, and learning style.
A typical lesson begins with a warm-up activity reviewing previous skills. We then move into the main lesson, which may include reading practice, phonics skills, spelling patterns, vocabulary, and comprehension questions. Students will have opportunities to practice through activities, discussions, and written work. Each lesson ends with a review and a goal for continued improvement.
What sets me apart is my hands-on experience working with young learners and my understanding of child development. I have experience supporting students in early childhood classrooms, helping them develop language, literacy, and communication skills. I bring patience, creativity, and encouragement into every lesson while helping students build confidence in their abilities.
My lessons are designed for early learners, including preschool, Pre-K, kindergarten, and elementary students who need support with reading, spelling, phonics, vocabulary, and early writing skills. I work with students who are beginning their literacy journey as well as those who need extra practice and confidence building.
I am passionate about helping children discover the joy of reading and giving them the skills they need to become successful, independent learners.
