About Kayla E
Currently an Elementary Teacher and High School Math Tutor, I value the importance of doing what's best for my students! What does this look like? First, I value students' first teaching method. I like to get to know my students' needs and interests before I start to plan my lessons! Second, I value independence. I value my students growing from needing my help by learning strategies and techniques to utilizing their strategies and techniques on their own. Last, I value engagement. I believe as a teacher it is important to conduct lessons that are engaging and interacting. Students need to be a part of the lessons rather than being lectured to.

For Elementary and Middle School students, do you enjoy active, kinesthetic, game-based, play-based, and blended learning? Well, then I am the person for you! I love to keep my lessons fun and engaging! I love to get students up and moving to learn. I love utilizing online games/tools to connect the students with their learning. Throughout my years of teaching, I have learned about some fun interactive game-based activities to have a blended classroom. Plus, I have online games that I utilize through PowerPoint to teach. I use a variety of engaging techniques to keep the lesson moving. We are always using something different! In addition, I do an I do, We do, You do approach to teaching a concept. This progresses the lesson in a smooth transition from the teacher teaching and having discussions to the teacher and you doing the problem together and then last having the student complete the problem on their own and then having a discussion after. For High School and College students, I utilize some of the similar techniques as above; however, I focus more on using the I do, We do, You do approach. I am not about lecturing the entire time, but rather having the student engaged in the lesson the entire time! In addition, I take the approach of focusing on easy steps that you can take to solve the problems. I value the student taking ownership of their learning and becoming independent more and more each day!

Kayla taught 2nd grade to my foster son the year we came from Covid closings. Whole under immense pressures and rules my son thrived under her teaching. She is very thoughtful and individualized and really helped him learn to love certain subjects and get excited. Kayla is super bright and bubbly and can making learning fun for anyone.
