About Elizabeth
I am a unique tutor/teacher because there is more to teaching than math, reading, history, and science! Feelings, music, puzzles, and art come into play as well. I like to teach with enthusiasm and excitement because that is what learning is! An example of how I implement my style of teaching is by finding a way to turn a boring math problem into one that can be creative and colorful, but educational.
"I'm not a math person," isn't a true statement. The way it should go is, "I haven't been taught math that makes sense". I believe that no matter what, you can learn if you want to and actually put forth the effort needed to make it happen. I will be here for guidance and to make sure no one gets left behind!

I teach differently than a stereotypical teacher/tutor. I will motivate, encourage, and listen to my students. I want to hear about their days, but we are here for learning!
A typical lesson plan is introducing a fun question or challenge at the beginning, to get the brain juices flowing. Once we go over it, whether right or wrong, we discuss and continue to the day's struggle area. I will not give answers to anyone but will guide or ask questions to help the student find the solution on their own.
I am all about finding new or better methods to help students that may work for some, but not all. My main goal for my students is that they learn and retain the information. I will continue to review what we have learned in the past as we move through the present.
With my knowledge and skill set, I am best for students in grades K - 8. I am able to teach students who may have special needs, 504, and or an IEP. I have taught students from various backgrounds, and environments.
I look forward to any future students of mine!
