About Ellie
Hello!
I am an acting teacher and creative careers coach, based in Hackney, London. I am also a actor and director working in the London theatre industry.
I love teaching and mentoring young people to work out exactly what you want to do and how you can get there.
Rehearsing for auditions can so often feel stressful and isolating, particularly when you're practicing on your own in your room. My approach is about bringing the joy back to rehearsing for an audition, having someone to bounce ideas off and help guide you in the right direction.
Everyone is different, so acting is all about finding the right tools that work for you. So if a technique or exercise doesn't work for you, we will keep looking until we have that Eureka moment together!
So much of acting is about confidence. I know the benefit of having someone to work on audition speeches with you so you feel confident, empowered, and, believe it or not, excited for an audition.
My teaching credentials - I taught acting and musical theatre at the Young Actors Theatre in Islington for 8 years before last year completing a Masters at RADA in performing and directing theatre.
Since graduating this Masters, I have been working at Assistant Director at Bloomsbury Festival, directing projects, mentoring the emerging theatre artists, and leading the planning and teaching of the Festival's creative careers Traineeship for young people age 16-25.

Audition monologue work - Students can book a one-off or small number of sessions to work in detail on their chosen audition monologues. Using the combination of Stanislavskian and Mesiner approaches taught in leading UK drama schools right now, lessons will focus on connecting with a text in rehearsal, embodying character and unlocking their objectives. Sessions can also include acting through song.
A longer approach - Auditioning for drama school can be daunting: many schools don't know how to help students prepare, or how the application process can be different. I can work with students over a number of months from application and personal statement stage to final audition, helping them put their best foot forward. These sessions can include personal statement writing, choosing the right monologue for them, and audition technique.
I tailor my approach to each individual, helping them identify their goals and work out a personalised plan that suits their learning style - with tried and tested techniques, learnt as a recent graduate from RADA.
Audition preparation is best suited for students ages 16+ who are looking to apply to drama school in the next year, but lessons can be suitable for younger students looking to take their acting more seriously.
My experience - I have 8 years acting and musical theatre teaching experience at the Young Actors Theatre in Islington (2014-2022), 2 years careers coaching for young creatives at Bloomsbury Festival (2022-2024), and a Masters from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (2023-2024). I have directed professionally for 5 years, including at the Oxford Playhouse, Southwark Playhouse, and Coronet Theatre, and worked as an actor with Disney, ITV, Lyric Hammersmith & Oxford Playhouse.
Beyond this, I studied PPE at University of Oxford (2018-2021) and have tutored Oxbridge entrance, politics, and history.
