About Alex
Alex studied at the Royal College of Music with Yossi Zivoni and is now pursuing a varied freelance career as an orchestral player and chamber musician. He has performed across the UK and internationally, with ensembles including Royal Northern Sinfonia, BBC Concert Orchestra, and Manchester Camerata and was recently selected for the Overture mentoring scheme with the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House.
A keen chamber musician, Alex has played at venues such as the Southbank Centre and St. John’s Smith Square. As a soloist, he has given recitals across the UK, won several prizes, and taken part in masterclasses with violinists including Michael Vaiman and Francesca Dego. He also appeared as a soloist in the National Theatre’s production Travelling Light.
Alex was a member of the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain from 2015 to 2018, performing at the BBC Proms and Festival Berlioz and recording for Chandos Records. Passionate about education, he has mentored young musicians through NYO Inspire and RCM Sparks and has held teaching positions at Opera North’s Young Musician’s Studio and Durham University.

I am happy to teach students of all abilities and experience. My aim is to ensure students progress both technically and musically and to gain enjoyment from learning the violin. I am very happy to help students work towards ABRSM and Trinity exams, and can also teach aural skills and music theory.
