About Alex
I'm Alex, a tutor with over 5 years of experience working across multiple tutoring centers. I'm from Cypress, California, and I finished my Bachelor's degree in Data Science and UC Irvine. Being a student myself helps me stay connected with my students. How they struggle and what kind of explanations help them understand are things that I constantly think about.
Outside of academics, I love sports- I enjoy both watching and playing, and I love the Dodgers. Go Blues! I love playing games and I'm super competitive. I also love helping out my friends and family when it comes to these interests. I think that's how I connect a lot to how I think about tutoring: staying patient, adjusting teaching, and finding the best way to tackle a problem.
One of the most rewarding parts of tutoring for me is building connections with my students. I genuinely enjoy spending time with them, getting to know how they think and creating a learning environment so that they feel comfortable to ask more and more questions.

I help students build real confidence in math-not just memorize formulas.
My teaching style is highly interactive. Instead of telling my students what to do, I guide them with questions like "Do you think this is correct?" so they learn to think through problems on their own. I believe mistakes are part of learning. As my high school math teacher, one said, "There's illegal math, and there's good math. Good math comes with practice and errors."
With 5+ years of tutoring experience across multiple tutor places around Orange County, I've worked with all types of students- from struggling learners to advanced ones. As a student myself, I understand how students think, where they get stuck, and how to explain concepts in a way all individuals can understand.
I'm especially strong in PreCalculus, Trigonometry, and Geometry, and I focus on helping students become more confident.
At the end of the day, math isn't about memorization-it's about confidence and thinking, and I can't wait to show my eager students. My goal is to not only help students with their homework but also really understand the concepts they practice.
