About Varunie
Hello! My name is Varunie Karunadasa, and I am an experienced English instructor. A deep passion for language and communication sparked my journey into teaching. I’ve always believed that learning a new language opens doors to new opportunities, cultures, and perspectives. After working as a paraprofessional for 15 years, I saw firsthand how education can impact students’ lives. This inspired me to transition into teaching English, where I can help others gain the confidence and skills they need to communicate effectively in the world. The joy of seeing my students improve and reach their goals motivates me to keep growing as an educator.
I am passionate about helping students achieve their language goals. With over 20 year of teaching experience, I have worked with students of all levels, from beginners to advanced learners. My lessons are interactive, practical, and tailored to meet the unique needs of each student, focusing on improving grammar, pronunciation, and conversational skills. In my English lessons, I prioritize an interactive and student-centered approach. Each lesson begins with a warm-up activity, such as a conversation starter or a short listening exercise, to engage students and get them thinking in English. I then introduce the day’s topic, whether it’s a grammar point, new vocabulary, or a particular communication skill, using clear explanations and relevant examples.
I focus on integrating the four key language skills—listening, speaking, reading, and writing—into each session, ensuring that students practice English in a well-rounded way. My methodology emphasizes real-world application, so I use role-playing, discussions, and problem-solving tasks to help students use English in practical situations. I also incorporate multimedia tools such as videos, interactive quizzes, and articles to make lessons engaging and relevant.Throughout the lesson, I provide feedback and encourage students to ask questions, fostering an open and supportive learning environment. I adapt my teaching to each student's level and learning style, offering personalized guidance to ensure that everyone makes steady progress. By the end of each class, students will have practiced new language concepts and gained the confidence to apply them outside of the lesson.
