What sets me apart as a tutor is that I have experience working with multiple languages (Chinese and Spanish). I am a native english speaker and as a recent college graduate, school is still fresh in my mind so I can easily relate to students. Also, as a working professional I can easily switch gears to focus on english for the business world.

My teaching method and techniques would revolve around entertainment.

I would start by creating a lesson plan objective, tailored to the interest or goal of the student.

Example objectives:
Our focus could be:
* A song or a movie
* A vocabulary group, For example, cooking, colors, animals, etc.
* A general exercise such as understanding a short passage from a well known book, for example “Harry Potter”

Using the movie objective, a sample lesson plan could be as follows:
1. Welcome/quick review of previous week / ask students questions
2. Send out movie worksheets
3. Play preview of movie
4. Introduce vocabulary needed to understand movie scene
5. Practice of the vocabulary
6. Giving answers to worksheets
7. Listening exercises with the movie (includes playing the movie scenes several times, then going over the answers and letting the students watch the scenes a third time)
8. Wrap up the class by asking vocabulary review questions
9. Homework (optional) could be the students watching the movie either in English or with English subtitles.

I would incorporate worksheets, activities or videos into the class to help reiterate the vocabulary. Fluent-U is a great resource that I would plan to use.

I could really tailor this general lesson plan idea to a high school, college or university student, or a working professional.
Additionally, I could tailor this lesson plan to an elementary aged child, and we could focus on a shorter film or a cartoon.
