About Josilyn
I have had previous positions as a teacher assistant, tutor, and supplemental instruction leader in math, anatomy, and chemistry courses which I thrived in due to my supportive, considerate, and vibrant personality. I graduated in the top of my class from High School and College with a degree in Kinesiology and a minor in Child Development. I am currently studying Physical Therapy and will graduate with my Doctorate degree. My passion is helping people flourish by encouraging their self-efficacy and guiding them to success.

I use a teaching approach that is beneficial for all types of learners by using multimodal approach and catering it to the individual student. My teaching style varies based on the age of the student. For middle school and high school students my teaching style includes a basic Cognitive Learning Theory approach where I guide students in processing information that is presented in a multimodal form (watch & listen, perform, instruct it to someone else). When working with college students, my teaching style is based more off the Adult Learning Theory which fosters a self-directed learning environment that allows students to learn the necessary concepts and then be able to apply it to the larger context of their academic field and social context. Overall, my lesson plans include presenting the information in a new way involving a diagram or chart for visual-spatial interpretation, then a set of example problems where students practice what they do know and I guide them through the areas they are developing in, and then concluding with allowing the student to explain their work and how it applies to their previous knowledge.
