About David

I hold an MA and two BAs, but I am also a military veteran, former construction worker, and a paid, credited screenwriter. Because of this diverse background, I focus on practical, real-world application rather than rigid textbook teaching.

Government Communication Experience: I worked at the Department of Global Affairs as a communications officer, so I know exactly what federal-level professional English requires.

Proven Creative Success: As an award-winning filmmaker and working screenwriter, I spend my life studying dialogue and how people actually talk. I bring that high-energy approach to our tutoring sessions so lessons are never boring

.Mature Student Perspective: I returned to university later in life myself, so I truly understand the challenges of adult learning and adapting to new environments.

About the lesson

Let’s be honest: tackling complex university coursework, returning to school, or mastering professional English can feel incredibly stressful. You don’t need an intimidating academic lecturing you—you need an easy-going coach to help you build confidence. My teaching style is completely relaxed, conversational, and fun. There is zero judgment here. We move at your pace, laugh through the mistakes, and focus entirely on making your life easier.

Pick the Track That Fits Your Goals:

TRACK 1: The Humanities (History, Philosophy, Literature, Film). Drowning in readings or deadlines? I help you master complex theories, analyze texts, and write top-tier papers in History, Philosophy, English Literature, Political Science, and Film Studies.

TRACK 2: ESL, Western Culture & Professional English. Skip the dry grammar textbooks. I offer practical, real-world English coaching for adult learners and newcomers. We focus on conversational confidence, North American cultural integration, and mastering the language you need for job interviews, workplace emails, or university life.

TRACK 3: Grad School and Professional Applications. Let’s polish your grad school personal statements, entrance essays, or creative writing portfolios together so you stand out to committees.

Perfect! Having class with David has become part of my morning routine, and it always makes my day. His laid back teaching style makes each and every lesson engaging and fun.
David is goal-oriented and always tailoring his lesson plan to meet my needs and interests. He has high expectations, and in the meantime he is patient and understanding. We go along at the pace that I enjoy so that I can get the most out of the learning experience.
David is one of the most knowledgeable and experienced tutors I have ever worked with. I appreciate his support and strongly recommend him if you want to learn English language and culture through open discussion in a student-centred learning environment.
