As a tutor, I usually start by teaching my students pinyin and tones, which are the key to Chinese pronunciation, followed by understanding the structure of Chinese characters and how to write them, as I have won awards for my good penmanship. Then, we will learn some common vocabulary and basic grammar rules, which are the basics of the Chinese language. Of course, I will formulate different teaching programs according to the foundation of different students. If the student has a certain level of basic knowledge, I may emphasize more on daily language and practical scenes, and may use some video clips as an introduction, as well as some cultural background and customs (if the student wants to know).
