About Violet
I'm a graduate student in English at the University of North Dakota, and I'm currently completing my thesis on medieval literature. To put it simply, I'm a major nerd. I taught College Composition as a graduate teaching assistant at the University of North Dakota (UND) for two years, where I also tutored German for three years. I genuinely enjoyed seeing my students' writing improve and their confidence grow throughout the semester. I'm still a student at heart, so I understand how overwhelming writing and literary analysis can be, but I promise it's worth it. When I'm not busy writing and researching, I enjoy spending time with my cats, Salem and Freya, and watching horror movies, even if they are objectively terrible (like The Nun). I also play the Sims and check out estate sales when I have time.

My approach is student-centered, and I'm here to help you learn and ensure that you have the necessary tools to succeed. We'll begin each session by identifying your goals and then dive into clear, targeted instruction. You'll receive some immediate, constructive feedback that'll help you improve. In addition to focusing on writing skills, I also offer tutoring in English literature, where we can discuss a text's themes, characters, and background together. Ultimately, my goal is to create a supportive and non-judgmental environment where learning is enjoyable and captivating rather than overwhelming. My sessions are for high school students and undergraduates who want to improve their writing skills and enhance their understanding of literature, as well as anyone who considers themselves a "lifelong learner."
