About June
My name is June (she/they pronouns) and I am a first-generation graduate student pursuing her PhD at UC Davis. I have 6+ years of experience working as a teaching assistant in American Studies, Asian American Studies, and History courses.
As a first-generation postgrad, first-generation immigrant, as well as queer and trans person of color, I deeply value and attend to my students' individual backgrounds and care to help them feel heard in their voice and their educational pursuits or goals. My lessons are typically highly individualized with the goals of supporting the learning needs of the student first-and-foremost.
For writing lessons, I focus mainly on the ideas that individual students have and helping them with identifying, workshopping, and realizing their ideas in writings.
On academic reading and research, I can be available to help students with identifying key arguments and supporting evidence to break down dense academic questions or essays -- so that students can more readily draw their own connections with the materials themselves.
Also, having served on graduate program admission committee, I can also help with and provide insights on grad school application process -- particularly in the Humanities fields.
Lessons can be available at middle school, high school, and/or college levels!
