Advanced learners and grade exam candidates often arrive at my studio with a heavy focus on the finish line rather than the journey. Truthfully, I prefer when students are willing to slow everything down to look at the microscopic details of their bow hold. With 8 years of experience, I have guided 220 students through the complexities of scales, arpeggios, and double stops. My training at the Conservatoire de Montréal and Schulich School of Music informs every technical correction I offer.
I enjoy working with working professionals and teens who appreciate a disciplined approach to music theory and ear training. It is a pleasure to share the art of tuning by ear, as I find it connects us more deeply to the instrument. My teaching philosophy is rooted in the idea that technical proficiency grants us the freedom to express ourselves fully. Sometimes I share stories from my own time in the practice room to remind you that even the most seasoned performers are always refining their basics.
