About Dominic
Hello! My name is Dominic Madera (he/him/his), and I am a postgraduate at Oxford University studying English Language and Literature. I love teaching because it allows me to help others with their discovery of new material. I have experience teaching TESOL, TEFL, and Advanced Placement (AP) exam prep material. I have also advised students on their Common Application essays for US colleges and Universities.
I approach teaching with an understanding of how challenging learning can sometimes be, especially when juggling multiple courses and other obligations. My sessions aim to not only make learning fun and accessible, but make your daily life a bit more navigable.

Lessons with me will always center your growth and meet you where you are. I emphasize games and conversation over lectures, but I am also committed to investing in you as an individual and building my curriculum around your needs.
A typical lesson will briefly review material covered in the previous week followed by game-based learning and mini-lectures covering the material.
What sets me apart is my student-centered approach to teaching. I have been a student myself for many years, and I know that it is challenging to manage courses whilst taking supplemental lessons. I want to make sure our sessions get to the heart of the learning in a fun and enjoyable way.
I teach a variety of levels, ranging from high school English to University essay writing skills. I can also teach high school-level Geography and History.
