Hi! I'm a graduate with an MA in History. I teach History & Essay Writing from middle school all the way to college courses and I offer tutoring in Washington, DC or online anywhere.

About Claire
I'm on my way to becoming a certified teacher and I know that history and essay writing can super boring and difficult for some but I'll share my top tips and give you actual tools to make it easy and (hopefully:) fun!
I tutored students in college-level courses for 2 years before going on to complete my Master's degree and I worked with middle schoolers in after school sports programs for 2 years.
I have mastered:
1. History courses/topics from Ancient Civilizations to the Present (including Digital History courses)
2. Argumentative essay format and writing (the most common kind of essay students have to write-from English to History courses)
The skills that I've taken years to master I can teach you in a matter of sessions. I can help you skip over the guess and check process get you to a point where you feel confident putting these skills to practice on your own and in any class you take.
That course you're convinced you won't pass or the History courses and essays you have to tackle year after year will stop feeling like a roadblock in your education.
I have so many tools that I want to share with students because I know how much of a difference they made for me.
I want students to know that they can rely on and that I've got their back.

I approach teaching from the student's perspective- meaning that together we discover how you learn best and then I will create a curated set of tools for you.
A typical tutoring session involves me listening to you sharing what you're struggling with, whether it's an upcoming exam that you need to prep for or a class that you just can't seem to stay on top of.
We will tackle one challenge at a time, and at the end of each session you will leave with a tool or tools that you are challenged to practice using.
I'm going to help you not only stay on top of your studies but stay ahead of them. I know every student is capable of success when they have the right support and I want you to know that you can rely on me for that support.
