About Kyra
I am a fourth-year student at Simon Fraser University in the Faculty of Environment pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Geoscience, and a certificate in GIScience. During my studies, I have completed both Calculus 1 and Calculus 2, as well as a few courses with applied mathematics including Mechanics and Modern Physics, General Chemistry, Statistics, and many Earth and Geographical Sciences. I have been tutoring for 4 years in the subjects of general Mathematics grade 6 through grade 10, Foundations of Mathematics 11, Pre-Calculus 11, and Pre-Calculus 12. I am dedicated to helping others and math has always been a strong subject of mine; therefore, I enjoy assisting those who need some additional help in mathematics.

My teaching accommodates the needs of the student I am working with to best suit their individual learning styles. Typically, I work through the topic concepts to ensure the student has a general understanding before applying them to problems. I find the procedure of first demonstrating a few problems to the student, then assisting them through problems on their own is the most effective way for them to understand the material so they are eventually able to work through problems on their own.

Kyra was an amazing tutor not only because of her tranquil ability to teach, but her patience and kindness as well. She is very easy to schedule with and gracious with her time. She helped me to conceptualize the math I was studying and encouraged me to complete the course load I had before it’s hasty deadline. I couldn’t have done it without her. Highly recommend.
Kyra is an amazing tutor and helped me achieve great marks in maths. She is great at explaining concepts and is also very patient! She takes the time to make sure you not only understand the questions you are working on but also have the ability to answer similarly formed questions.
