. Mathematics: From Concrete to Abstract
The CPA Approach: Utilizing the Concrete-Pictorial-Abstract sequence. Start with physical objects (blocks, fruit, toys), move to drawing representations, and only then introduce formal equations.
Real-World Application: Use everyday scenarios like "budgeting" for a small treat or measuring ingredients for a recipe to demonstrate spatial awareness and fractions.
Gamification: Using logic-based puzzles or strategy games to build number sense without the "drill and kill" fatigue.
2. English: Immersion and Context
Focus on the four pillars: Speaking, Listening, Reading, and Writing, but weave them together.
Shared Reading: Moving beyond reading to them. Using "Think-Alouds" where you verbalize your thought process as you read ("I wonder why the character did that?").
Creative Scaffolding: Using "Story Starters" or "Sentence Frames" to help them build complex thoughts without getting stuck on the first word.
Phonics vs. Whole Language: Balancing systematic phonics instruction with high-interest literature to maintain engagement.
3. Science: using The Inquiry-Based Model
Science is best taught as a verb ("doing") rather than a noun ("facts").
The Scientific Method: Encourage them to make predictions (hypotheses) for even the simplest things—like what happens if you leave a piece of bread out.
