About Alyson

As a dedicated and passionate teacher, I bring a rich and diverse background to my English as a Second Language (ESL) classes. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Fine Art from the University of Tennessee and a Master's degree in Fine Art from the Istituto Lorenzo de' Medici in Florence, Italy. My extensive academic background has not only honed my artistic skills but also instilled in me a deep appreciation for cultural diversity and creativity, which I incorporate into my teaching. Additionally, I am a published researcher in the field of art, reflecting my commitment to academic excellence and continuous learning.

With five years of experience working as an ESL teacher for Qkids, I have developed a profound understanding of the unique challenges and needs of language learners. During my tenure at Qkids, I crafted engaging and effective lesson plans that focused on real-world application, pronunciation, and everyday use of English. My experience has taught me the importance of creating a supportive and interactive learning environment where students feel comfortable practising and improving their language skills.

Outside of teaching, I run a thriving business as a wedding photographer, travelling all over the world to capture love stories. This career allows me to blend my artistic talents with my passion for storytelling, resulting in stunning visual narratives that celebrate love and connection. My work takes me to diverse and beautiful locations, providing me with a wealth of experiences and cultural insights that I bring back to the classroom, enriching my lessons and broadening my students' horizons.

In addition to my professional pursuits, I am also an avid runner. This hobby teaches me the values of perseverance, discipline, and setting goals—principles that I incorporate into my teaching philosophy. About the lesson

Teaching English as a second language is a passion of mine, and I approach it with the goal of making learning both effective and enjoyable. My lessons are designed to immerse students in real speech and everyday use, ensuring they can confidently navigate various social and professional situations. By focusing on practical communication skills, I help learners develop a natural command of English that extends beyond textbooks and traditional classroom settings.

One of the key aspects of my teaching method is prioritising pronunciation. I believe that clear, accurate pronunciation is essential for effective communication, so I incorporate a variety of engaging exercises and activities to help students master this skill. Through tongue twisters, pronunciation drills, and interactive speaking exercises, students can improve their accent and become more confident in their spoken English. My lessons are dynamic and full of opportunities for students to practise and refine their pronunciation in a supportive environment.

In addition to pronunciation, I emphasise the importance of real-life application. My lessons are filled with role-playing scenarios, conversations about current events, and discussions on topics relevant to the students' interests and daily lives. This approach not only makes the learning process more enjoyable but also ensures that students can immediately apply what they've learned outside the classroom. Whether it's ordering food at a restaurant, participating in a business meeting, or making small talk with neighbours, my students are equipped with the language skills they need to thrive.

To keep the lessons fun and engaging, I incorporate a variety of multimedia resources, games, and interactive activities. From watching and analysing popular TV shows and movies to playing language-based games that reinforce vocabulary and grammar, my classes are always lively and interactive. By creating a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere, I encourage students to take risks, make mistakes, and learn from them, fostering a positive and effective language learning experience.
