About Allyson

I am 25 years old, and have been working with children since I was about 12 years old. My mother runs a day-home, which allowed me to have direct and practical experience with young learners. This would show through in teaching young children social skills with their peers and small homework assignments for those entering kindergarten in the near future. This experience inspired my passion for teaching students. As stated earlier, I am in the process of entering the education program. I plan to teach elementary children from grades 3-6. However, I am extremely comfortable with all grade levels for the English subjects. My philosophy on life is to ALWAYS lead with kindness; small gestures can change the trajectory of someone's day. I would love to be a helping hand for you and your child.

About the lesson

When tutoring a young mind, I argue that it is important to be open, kind, and encouraging. There are many times when students feel ashamed to need tutoring, however, I believe that reaching for help in areas where it is needed is the bravest thing a person can do.
We will begin by reviewing current homework to pinpoint exact friction points, alleviate immediate stress, and ensure your child feels prepared for upcoming school deadlines.
• Broadening the Alberta English Curriculum: Textbooks can sometimes limit a student's perspective. I integrate dynamic, outside materials to prove that literary concepts exist far beyond the classroom walls, transforming strict teacher guidelines into relatable, real-world patterns.
• Building Lasting Academic Resilience: Rather than relying on memorization, my sessions focus on building core critical thinking and text-analysis skills. This builds the foundational confidence needed to approach any future assignment with self-assurance.
