About Hang
I am currently a PhD candidate at IELab in the School of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering at the University of Queensland, Australia. Prior to PhD, I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science at the University of Minnesota Twin-Cities in United States in 2016.
I work at the intersection of Conversational Search, Natural Language Processing (NLP), and Machine Learning (ML) applications, where I utilize different relevance feedback signals to empower the conversational search system. My recent work seeks to address the gap between relevance feedback, deep language models, and conversational search through different approaches that helps to improve the conversational system effectiveness with minimal efficiency cost.

My teaching style is to guide you gradually into the subject. I won't give you the answer or code directly, instead I will lead you to explore the possible solutions. In this case, you will remember it, otherwise you will forget the content right away. Typical length of a lesson would be one hour to two hours. I am teaching assistant for Cloud Computing, Information Retrieval, and Web Information Systems courses at UQ. I also worked as the supervisor for Master Degree Thesis projects for the master students. I have published more than 10 papers in top venues in the computer science field.
