About Brandon
Hello! My name is Brandon and I have a Bachelors degree in Spanish Secondary Education and taught Spanish 1/Beginners Spanish for a semester at a public school. I am looking to do more one on one work and help my students feel more comfortable and confident with their understanding and usage of the Spanish language through continued practice with creative and engaging activities. As a Spanish teacher, I like to focus on creating engaging activities (and scenarios) that allow students to actively and meaningfully apply the target language. I also like to connect with students interests and passions in order to make my lessons more relevant. There are two types of typical lessons I may do, depending on the needs of the student. The first one will involve engaging with authentic resources such as music, books, newspaper headlines, movies, etc. in order to practice/improve one’s reading and listening skills. The second type of lesson involves working on speaking skills either through role plays set in real-world contexts or an open and free-flowing conversation about general topic and themes that align with student interests. My classes are geared towards beginner to post-intermediate learners who are looking to improve their listening, reading, or conversational skills in Spanish. What sets me apart from other tutors is that I continuously adapt my methods based upon the needs and learning styles of individual students and I create an environment where mistakes are not just accepted but encouraged during practice in order to improve one’s understanding of the Spanish language.
