About Ian
I am a guitar tutor with 6 years of experience and a B.Mus in Guitar Performance along with an M.Mus in Contemporary Music Studies. I specialize in technical development, expressive interpretation, and performance readiness for students at all levels. I teach beginners establishing foundations, intermediate learners refining technique and repertoire, and advanced learners preparing for solo or ensemble performance. Lessons integrate structured exercises, improvisation, repertoire study, and performance coaching. My teaching approach adapts to each student’s skill and goals. Beginners focus on chords, strumming, and basic melodies. Intermediate learners refine technique, phrasing, and improvisation. Advanced learners enhance solo repertoire, ensemble collaboration, and expressive performance. Feedback is continuous, supportive, and personalized. Lessons balance skill development, artistic exploration, and performance readiness. Outside teaching, I perform, compose, and mentor students for recitals, concerts, and ensemble projects.
