About Emily
Hi, I'm Emily! Guitar is the instrument that first made me fall completely in love with live performance, and 7 years of teaching it to students of all ages has only deepened that passion with every lesson. I work with beginners and intermediate players across every style — acoustic, classical, electric, blues, jazz, rock, and fingerstyle — and I design every lesson around what each individual student personally wants to learn and achieve.
I believe the best guitar education connects directly to what excites you most about music, which is why my lessons are always personal, style-flexible, and completely student-driven. Whether you are drawn to the warmth of acoustic fingerstyle, the energy of rock and electric, the soul of blues, or the sophistication of jazz, I teach it all with the same level of depth, care, and genuine enthusiasm. I also place a very strong emphasis on stage performance preparation — training students to play confidently in front of real audiences with commanding stage presence and the ability to perform under real pressure. Over 7 years I have helped students perform original compositions at school events, lead jazz and rock ensembles, prepare for college music program auditions, and take their guitar playing to live stages with real confidence and excitement. I was recognized as a Top Rated Guitar Instructor on a major US tutoring platform in 2023. My guitar lessons cover acoustic guitar fundamentals and proper technique, classical guitar posture and nylon string approach, electric guitar basics and gear introduction, understanding amplifiers and effects pedals, proper left and right hand position from day one, open chords and barre chords, power chords and rhythm guitar, smooth chord transition practice, strumming patterns and groove development, fingerpicking patterns and Travis picking, fingerstyle and solo guitar arrangement technique, blues guitar scales and the pentatonic and blues scale, string bending, vibrato, hammer-ons and pull-offs, blues phrasing and expressive playing, jazz guitar chord voicings and shell voicings, jazz comping and improvisation fundamentals, rock lead guitar and alternate picking, soloing over chord progressions, music reading in standard notation for guitar, guitar tablature reading and writing, chord chart and lead sheet reading, song learning across all genres and styles, original song arrangement for guitar, basic home recording concepts, loop pedal performance basics, stage performance coaching and live playing confidence, performance nerves management, stage presence development, and audition preparation for school and college music programs.
