About Paul
I'm a guitar teacher with nearly two decades of experience, a BMus (Hons) from a UK university, and an RSL Teacher's Diploma — but what really sets me apart is the kind of student I love to teach.
My lessons are designed for the dreamers, the deep thinkers, and the wonderfully quirky — children and adults who feel things deeply and want their music to reflect that. If your child is a little different, a little imaginative, or doesn't quite fit the standard music school mold, they will thrive here.
I teach both in-person across the Southern Peninsula and online, tailoring every lesson to the individual student. No cookie-cutter syllabuses. No pressure to perform. Just music that feels genuinely yours.
Whether your child is a complete beginner picking up a guitar for the first time, or a curious young player who's lost their spark with lessons elsewhere, I'd love to meet them.

Every lesson follows a simple, reassuring structure. We begin with a warm revision of what we covered last time — consolidating what's already been learned before gently layering in something new. New material is introduced slowly and thoughtfully, whether that's a fresh chord, a scale, a technique, or a piece of music. Nothing is rushed, and nothing is skipped over.
This approach builds real confidence over time. Students leave each lesson feeling like they've genuinely progressed — not overwhelmed, and not bored.
If you'd like to work toward formal qualifications, I'm experienced with both the Rockschool and Trinity Classical syllabuses. Examinations can be a wonderful goal to work toward — giving students structure, motivation, and a real sense of achievement.
That said, exams are entirely optional. Many of my students simply love playing for the joy of it, and that is just as valid a reason to learn.

I'd be happy to offer a short 15 - 20 minute online trial lesson to get acquainted and see if we are the right student-teacher fit and how I can help you achieve your musical goals. Unfortunately, due to the cost of travel to you, I can't offer a free trial lesson if I travel to you.
