About Olive
I have 8 years of experience teaching guitar and hold a B.Mus in Guitar Performance and an M.Mus in Contemporary Guitar Studies. Over my career, I have worked with students ranging from beginners discovering their first chords to advanced players refining their own musical voice. My teaching emphasizes patience, creativity, and adaptability, creating lessons that are engaging, challenging, and highly personalized to each student’s goals.
My methodology combines structured exercises, improvisation, repertoire exploration, and music theory with a focus on expressive performance. I encourage students to understand not just how to play but why music works, helping them internalize skills and apply them creatively. Lessons incorporate performance practice, self-reflection, and composition to foster well-rounded musical development.
Outside teaching, I perform, compose, and remain active in the music community, bringing real-world insights, fresh repertoire, and contemporary trends into my lessons. Witnessing students develop technical skill, expressive ability, and confidence is deeply rewarding. I aim to nurture versatile musicians who not only play with precision but also connect emotionally with their music and audiences.

Guitar lessons become truly transformative when students develop both technical skills and personal musical expression. My approach combines fundamental technique—finger positioning, chord transitions, scales, arpeggios, and strumming patterns—with advanced skills such as bending, vibrato, hybrid picking, and expressive soloing. I integrate a diverse repertoire including classical, jazz, blues, rock, and contemporary styles to cultivate creativity and musical versatility. Each session is structured to balance skill development, theory application, and performance confidence.
Beginners start by mastering basic chords, strumming techniques, and simple melodies to establish a solid foundation. Intermediate students explore fingerstyle, improvisation, theory-driven exercises, and song arrangement, while developing expressive phrasing and dynamic control. Advanced learners work on complex repertoire, advanced improvisational techniques, music interpretation, stage presence, and performance strategies. Lessons are personalized according to individual goals, strengths, and learning pace to ensure consistent, measurable growth.
Beyond technique, guitar lessons foster creativity, musicality, and emotional expression. Students gain confidence in performing, improvising, and composing while connecting deeply with the music. My goal is to help learners evolve into technically skilled, expressive, and versatile guitarists, able to enjoy performing both individually and collaboratively while developing a lifelong love for music.
