About Una
I have 8 years of experience teaching guitar and hold a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Guitar and Contemporary Performance. My students range from complete beginners discovering their first chords to advanced musicians preparing for recordings, recitals, and performances. I focus on combining rigorous technique with creative freedom, helping students find their individual voice and musical identity.
My teaching philosophy emphasizes patience, adaptability, and engagement. I design lessons that blend technical exercises with creative improvisation and repertoire study, supporting learners in building confidence and expressive skill. I encourage exploration, experimentation, and discovery, while ensuring a strong technical foundation.
Outside teaching, I perform regularly, compose, and study emerging techniques to bring new insights and inspiration to lessons. Supporting learners as they progress technically and creatively is highly rewarding. I aim to develop skilled, expressive, and confident guitarists who enjoy both the discipline and the creative thrill of music.

My guitar lessons are designed to combine technical precision with expressive musicality, helping learners progress in both skill and creativity. Lessons cover chord progressions, scales, improvisation, fingerstyle and hybrid picking, rhythm exercises, phrasing, tone shaping, and genre-specific techniques spanning jazz, blues, rock, and contemporary fusion. I use interactive exercises, guided repertoire practice, real-world song applications, and storytelling to engage students and foster deep musical understanding. Each session emphasizes not only technical mastery but also cultivating a personal voice and artistic confidence.
Lessons are carefully tailored to the learner’s level. Beginners start with chord shapes, basic strumming patterns, simple melodies, and fundamental finger exercises. Intermediate learners focus on integrating scales into solos, developing improvisation, exploring multiple techniques, and playing with rhythm and dynamics. Advanced students tackle complex solos, sophisticated improvisation, advanced picking techniques, multi-layered arrangements, and performance preparation. Each lesson integrates exercises, hands-on practice, and constructive feedback to ensure growth and confidence.
Guitar lessons also encourage creativity, artistic exploration, and stage presence. Students develop problem-solving skills, musical intuition, and the ability to communicate emotion through sound. My goal is to help learners achieve a balance of technical skill and personal expression, fostering a lifelong connection to music and a joyful, immersive learning experience.
