About Arlo
I am a guitar tutor with 12 years of teaching experience and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Guitar Studies. Alongside teaching, I regularly perform and compose music, which keeps my passion for the guitar alive and growing. I believe music is a creative skill that lasts a lifetime, and I love sharing this with my students. I work with both beginners and advanced musicians, tailoring lessons to fit each person’s goals and style. Whether you’re just starting or aiming to refine your technique, I am here to guide you every step of the way. My teaching focuses not only on skills but also on encouraging self-expression through music. I want my students to enjoy playing and to develop a true love for the guitar. I emphasize the importance of patience, practice, and creativity. Every lesson is designed to be engaging and rewarding. I help students build confidence and find their unique musical voice. For me, teaching guitar is about more than notes and chords — it’s about inspiring a lifelong journey with music.

My teaching method focuses on building a strong foundation in guitar playing while making lessons fun and practical. I start by helping students master ergonomic techniques to play comfortably and avoid injury. We work on open chords and power chords to develop a versatile chord vocabulary. Finger dexterity exercises are included to improve speed and accuracy. I also emphasize ear training so students can recognize notes and chords by sound. Music theory, especially Roman Numeral Chord Nomenclature, is taught to help students understand song structure and chord progressions deeply. I tailor lessons to suit each student’s goals, whether they want to play fingerstyle pieces or lead worship songs confidently. I support students in becoming skilled musicians, encouraging creativity and expression. Practice routines are designed to build steady progress without overwhelming the learner. I believe patience and regular practice are key to success. My approach blends technical skills with musicality, ensuring students not only play well but also enjoy the process. By connecting theory and practice, I help students grow into confident guitarists. Every lesson is structured yet flexible, focusing on what the student needs most. Above all, I aim to inspire a lasting passion for guitar playing in every student.
